'21/#9 Just An Add On To This Morning

Here we are at the Blue Beacon Truck Wash in Dade City, FL. As you can see I am comfortably seated in the truck while an army of workers attack the road dirt and grime on our RV. The army was actually a well choreographed team of eight that washed the truck and trailer from end to end, side to side, and top to bottom in under 20 minutes including a full body coat of Rain-X. It would take me that long just to get the hoses out to do the job my self.

Being right off the interstate and attached to a busy truck stop we spent more time in line with at least a dozen trucks and RVs, but it was worth the wait. The full wash was a reasonable $65 plus tax. We also gave them a most appreciated tip. All in all a bargain in our eyes.

Well we are back in Zephyrhills for a week before we start our trek north. We are settled in and have had dinner so I am going to call it a night here in our home in Zephyrhills because....

'21/#8 Sun and Fun and a Test Run (IT RHYMES!)

Our time at the Grand Design Owners Rally in Eustis Florida is just about over. Until this morning (Sunday) the weather has been beautiful. We have had a lot of fun and met some great people with similar interests as ours. There were also some vendors and representatives from Grand Design with information to make RVing easier and more interesting.

This rally was also a good chance to take the rig out for a short trip. We have made a few modifications to our home and added a few things that need to be stored properly. We also have gotten rid of quite a bit during the winter yard sales to lighten the load.

On the way back to Zephyrhills the truck and trailer are getting a bath. For years we have avoided truck washes not knowing how they would treat an RV but another RVer told us about their great experience and we tried it. Now I will pay the reasonable price to get the rig washed in under an hour than kill ourselves in the all day process of washing it on our own.

We are going to have some breakfast and wait out the rain before we leave our home in Eustis FL because.....

'21/#7 Baby Steps

We are at our Grand Design Owners Rally in Eustis FL. It is only about 100 miles from Zephyrhills, and we are going back for a short while, but it felt good getting the rig back out on the road.

There are over 100 GD rigs here and lots of fellow GD owners. Reps from th company and other vendors will be here giving seminars and handing out door prizes. Looks like it will be fun.

Gotta go, the breakfast bell has rung in the main tent so talk later from our home in Eustis FL because....

'21/#6 Normal? Not Us!

Well, here we are, one third into year number two of the pandemic. Things have gotten better and things have gotten worse but like we can always count on, things have changed. We feel very fortunate that our family hasn't been infected with the Covid virus, few of our friends have been sick but recovered, and that most of the people we know have or soon will be vaccinated. There have been no deaths close to our inner circle and for that we are greatful. And life goes on.

Our winter season in Florida is coming to an end and we have been preparing for our departure in the next few weeks. We finished our workcamping job and have been concentrating on getting our home on wheels ready for the road. There is the usual maintenance to be done on the house side and the maintenance check list on the vehicle side which includes service on our truck. Then there were the few modifications we made to the living areas that make it our home.

Tommorrow we leave for north Florida for a rally of Grand Design owners that will last four days. We are looking forward to meeting and sharing experiences and ideas on the ownership of similar RVs. We will be wearing masks, washing hands, and social distancing while enjoying gathering with other people.

After the rally we will be back in Zephyrhills for a week and then our trek north will begin. It may sound like things are back to normal, and it is going in that direction, but we are not there yet. Mary and I have both been vaccinated and will follow all the Covid avoidance protocols to stay safe. But are things normal? Normal has never been a term that has applied to us and that is not about to change any time soon. I feel that if we and everyone else does their part we will get to a new sense of normalcy but I don't think things will ever be the same as they once were. The only thing that stays the same is that things will change.

I will say good bye from our happy but not necessarily normal home here in Zephyrhills Florida because.....

'21/#5 Another Milestone

Just a short blog to mark another milestone in our wild adventure. Today is 32 years of riding this wild ride of life with the woman of my dreams. Half of this ride has been in our home on wheels! Amazing!! It can't get any better than this...or can it? There is no sign of the ride slowing or stopping, so keep following us and see where the ride takes us next.

I am going to end this now so I can spend the day with my beautiful bride here in our honeymoon home here in Zephyrhills because.....

'21/#4 Scratch, Scratch, Scratch

It is that time again. We have a good case of hitch itch that can only be cured by getting the RV back on the road. As usual we have a long list of things to do and people to meet before D-Day. The "D" stands for departure. All this while we are still taking care of our workcamping duties.

This workcamping job has been different than most, and in a good way. No specific duties, no set schedule, and working at our own pace. Sounds like a cake walk but that is not how we work. We have done everything from mapping out the park electric panels to cabinet repair to office remodel and are finishing up (wait for it) the new park post office. Everybody here thinks it is funny that two retired postal workers are helping to build a post office and I'm sure our postal peeps will see the irony.

As all this is going on we have done some remodeling in the new RV. These jobs have to be finished before we roll so everything is secure while we travel. Then there is the normal maintenance that goes into any home. Some is a little different in a home on wheels but still needs to be done. Then there is the vehicle  part of our Recreational Vehicle, the tow vehicle. Being part of the RV experience our F350 is not only our daily driver but also part of our home. Since it is expected to tow our home several hundred miles a day, adding up to as much as two thousand miles in a short period of time, special care and attention is given to "Dad".

Yes, we named our truck "Dad" because we know how much both of our dads would have loved to travel around the country by RV or car. It also gives us the feeling that they might be watching over us and enjoying our travels from what ever after life they are in.

Well it is time to jump on that list so I will say goodbye for now from our home, for a little longer, here in Zephyrhills because......
