'11/#28 Days Off Are Good

Two days off, Yee Haw!!!!!!!!!!! Yes we say we have fun working at Red's, & we do, but as the saying goes...all work & no play yada yada yada. So we do look forward to our days off. There are so many things to do & see in the area it will take most of the summer to do them. Two more perks of working while "touristing" is that we have a few extra dollars to do more & we can take our time & not have to run around like the proverbial chicken with it's head cut off to see everything in a short period of time. We also get to sleep in instead of having to get up at the crack of dawn to keep from "burnin' daylight" as some people have been known to say. So instead of burnin' more daylight on the computer let the bloggin' begin.

Our first day off we didn't want to do much of anything so we did sleep in. After a leisurely breakfast we checked e-mails & tried to figure out what we were going to do. It was finally decided to got to the Christmas Place. It is a Christmas store with all things Christmas & who doesn't like Christmas? Well maybe not all year but we did get some things for this Christmas. We spent a bit of time there & then stopped at another store that I can't mention because someone may be reading this who is getting a surprise for Christmas from this store. Needless to say we did find what we were looking for & will be back to spend a little bit of our hard earned Dollywood paycheck. Homeward bound & dinner. We talked about what we would do the next day & narrowed it down to a few things that we would sleep on.

After snuggling for a while we finally got out of bed & started moving. Mary's hands didn't feel so good so this was going to be our first day touring "two-up". I have no problem riding with a passenger & Mary was looking forward to taking lots of pictures(what's new) from the back seat of the bike. Our destination today...Cades Cove TN just outside Townsend TN. The road was a twisting & turning motorcyclists dream. I was having a blast riding while there was the continuous clicking of Mary & her camera. Photos of mountains, trees, & cabins on the mountainside will undoubtedly fill the Internet soon. We arrived at Cades Cove & got in line to take the scenic loop. Except for the few tourists that had to wait for deer to strike the perfect pose the parade of tourists kept moving. There were plenty of deer & pictures. We stopped at a preserved cabin with more pictures. There was an old church & even more pictures. Of course there was the obligatory stop at the ranger station/store to buy a token souvenir & some postcards to send to the grand kids & those without access to computers. After checking out the restored homestead we got back on the bike & headed for home. Mary took more pictures of the same road just headed in the opposite direction while I enjoyed the riding the curvy roads. We Got home relaxed, had dinner, & Mary downloaded her pictures to the computer, almost 600 pictures. The memory card was almost full & 2 batteries had given their lives to the cause. It was a good day!

Tuesday we went back to work. We shared our days off with our coworkers while enjoying a reasonably slow day prior to the insanity that is known as Kidsfest here at Dollywood. There are all kinds of special events & shows geared even more than usual to kids along with promotions to bring in more guests & Miss Dolly will be there to kick it off on Friday. It is supposed to be beyond busy so bring it on. Our schedule looks better but we still are going to talk to the boss & see if it can be tweaked just a little bit. So until then have a good day as we plan to from our home in TN because .....

Home is where we park it,
Frank & Mary
